Grinding (Warcraft)

This may sound stupid but many ppl dont do this:

When your grinding for example WPL ruines of….. for epic drops the mobs drop loads of items that might seem of no falue and they leave them on the body. This is a waste of time and money. For example they drop the mushrooms that might seem useless but they sell for 40s to a vendor the stack. And why shouldn't you pick up this lil extra money while your there? When your baggs get filled up you can always trow it away so you can just as well carry it around.

Like I sayd it may sound stupid but grinding is stupid if you ask me let other ppl do the grinding for you but when your realy going to grind take all the items for the lil extra.

Crafting Will Fish For Food (World of warcraft)

So, you want to be the Emeril Lugassi of WoW. Follow this little write up and you will be hollering BAM in no time.

Fishing and Cooking go hand in hand. You can get your cooking skill from zero to 300 in a matter of days if you start out post level 40 (level required to get the artisan cooking quest), and already have a high enough fishing skill to support it. Just stay on the orange recipes and upgrade your cookbook regularly and you will hit 300 cooking skill in no time. You can also do this with minimal cost. You will have to pay for the recipes and whatever ingredients needed to cook them. Most fish, however, can be cooked with no needed ingredients. All you need is a fire, any fire, of any color. Almost every camp I went to had a fire of some sort that could be used for cooking. No, you can’t use torches.

When you read through the rest of this write up, you will have to keep something in mind. I use a fishing bot. Whether you do or don’t agree with botting is not an issue that I care to take up. This write up is for getting your cooking skill up by using what you get from fishing, regardless of how you get your fish.

You can get the fishing bot I use here: http://www.multiplayerstrategies.com/ms/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=27044&categoryid=20

Here is another one: http://www.multiplayerstrategies.com/ms/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=27824&categoryid=20

You can get some info on fishing quests and skill npc’s here: http://www.multiplayerstrategies.com/ms/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=29299&categoryid=20

Ok, first you need to get some recipes. Please pay attention to faction notes. The list goes in order from easiest to hardest, and with consideration given to the fishing skill needed to get it. There is an enormous mix of fish caught in different areas, so it is nearly impossible to list them all with an area breakdown. You can raise your fishing skill by 20 if you want to go loot crab traps right next to Shadowprey Village in Desolace. Here is the pole: http://www.thotbott.com/?i=2950

I would recommend filling your bags with enough recipes to get you all the way to level 300. When you hit level 225 in cooking and are level 40 you can head to Gadgetzan and do the quest that allows you to get to level 300. WARNING: The quest was bugged back when I did it. I was able to raise my skill above 225 after doing it, but some people could not. So fair warning, I don’t know if it is still bugged or not.

That quest is here: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?wquest=6610 It is for both Alliance and Horde.

Ok Back to the fishing. Master list: http://www.thotbott.com/?t=Cooking or http://wow.allakhazam.com/dyn/skills/skillline185.html

Easy to catch and cook: Skill format is learned/green/trivial.

Slither Skin Mackerel: http://www.thotbott.com/?i=735 1/45/85

Brilliant Smallfish: http://www.thotbott.com/?i=394 1/45/85

Rainbow Fin Albacore: http://www.thotbott.com/?i=2086 50/80/130

Longjaw Mud Snapper: http://www.thotbott.com/?i=734 50/80/130

Deviate Fish: THE COOLEST FISH EVER!!! : http://www.thotbott.com/?i=4710 85/125/165. Be sure to stock up on this one for hours and hours of fun. You will have to spend some money on ingredients to cook it though.

Bristle Whisker Catfish: http://www.thotbott.com/?i=733 100/140/180

Mithril Head Trout: http://www.thotbott.com/?i=Mithril%20Head%20Trout 175/215/255

Redgill: http://www.thotbott.com/?i=10072 225/265/305

Spotted Yellowtail: http://www.thotbott.com/?i=730 225/265/305

Here is some stuff you get from fishing that will provide some stats when cooked:

Grilled Squid (10 Agility): http://www.thotbott.com/?i=10066

Glossy Mightfish (10 Stamina): http://www.thotbott.com/?i=5184

Summer Bass (10 Spirit): http://www.thotbott.com/?i=10076

Nightfin Snapper (8 mana/ 5seconds): http://www.thotbott.com/?i=5766

Sunscale Salmon (6 health/5 seconds): http://www.thotbott.com/?i=10334

While fishing you will catch various things that don’t cook but will either sell in the AH or you can use towards your tradeskills. Firefin Snapper, Oily Blackmouth, and Stonescale Eel are all used in Alchemy and sell decently in the AH. Black Pearls, Iridescent Pearls, and Gold Pearls sell good and are looted from various clams. Remember, this is just an added benefit, so don’t ever think that fishing will make you rich by selling what you catch.

First aid guide (Wow)

Ahh, first Aid! One of the most least understood professions in the game….yet one of the most useful! In this guide I'll be going through the various aspects of first aid, it's uses and pretty much anything else you could possibly desire.

So enough with the smalltalk, let's get started:

First Aid Overview
First Aid is a secondary profession which allows you to create 'bandages' out of the various pieces of cloth which drop off of humanoids around the world of WoW (you can see the full list from the trainers in the game, just turn of the 'unavailable' filter when viewing the training list). First aid differs from eating food primarily because you can apply first aid during combat on yourself or others, and there is no need to sit. You also gain health at a much quicker rate than eating food.

First Aid Ranks

Apprentice (1 - max 75)
The apprentice rank can be trained in any major city. Just speak to a local guard and ask them where you can find the local first aid trainer.

Journeyman (50 - max 150 skill)
Like the apprentice rank, you can train up to the journeyman skill in any city, just speak to a local guard and find out where the local physician is located.

Expert (125 - max 225 skill)
To become an 'expert' first aid toon, you'll need to purchase a book for 60 silver. The individual vendors for alliance/horde are listed below.

Alliance: Deneb Walker, located in the Arathi Highlands….just inside Stormgarde keep.
Here's a map of Ms. Walker's location on thottbot.
http://www.thottbot.com/?m=10618

Horde: Balai Lok'Wein, located in Brackenwall Vil
lage in Dustwallow Marsh.
Here's a map of Balai's location on thottbot.

http://www.thottbot.com/?m=93812

Artisan (225 - max 300 skill)

Requires Player Level 40
Once you've maxed out your Expert skill level in first aid, you come to one of the more entertaining quests in the game, the Triage! The triage requires you to 'save' 15 injured warriors/soldiers in a small physician's room loaded with casualties…….BEFORE 6 of them die. There are 3 types of soldiers, critically injured, badly injured and injured. The critically injured die rather quickly so bandage them first, same goes for the badly injured.

A few more tips on this quest:
- Position yourself in the MIDDLE of the room.
- Adjust your camera until you can see a part of ALL the beds containing the injured. This allows for quick targeting.
- Once you receive your 'triage bandages' throw them in a hotbar slot (#1 is easiest). This will let you speedily heal the injured and not have to fumble around in your backpack.

So now that I've told you all you need to know to SUCCEED in this quest, you're probably wondering where the hell you get it! Here's how you can obtain the triage quest.

Alliance:
First, you'll need to speak to Nissa Firestone in Ironforge, she'll then direct you to speak to Doctor VanHowzen in Theramore. Here are thottbot maps for both NPCs.

Nissa Firestone: http://www.thottbot.com/?n=2353
Doctor VanHowzen: http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?n=7383

Horde:
To begin this quest you need to strike up a conversation with Arnok who hangs out in Ogrimmar. He'll then direct you to speak with Doctor Victor in the Arathi Highlands. Here are maps for both NPCs.

Arnok: http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?n=1270

BlizzCon opt-in lottery ticket system goes live (World of warcraft)

account before August 12 (despite Blizzard's website being plagued by massive downtimes), then you're in for more luck! It's just been announced that the opt-in lotteries are now open.

The lottery period starts today, Wednesday, August 20, and will be ending on August 24, 11:59 P.M., PDT. All you have to do is log on to the Blizzard Account Management page any time within the lottery period. By the end of which, 1500 accounts will be picked out from the bunch and be awarded with a chance to get two tickets to the BlizzCon event.

Be advised that simply logging on will already give you a chance to be one of those lucky 1500 winners to be picked out. And since you're already logged on at that time, it might be best to double check your contact information too and update it if necessary.

Easy Gold (Wow)

GOLD METHODS

Some of ways to get gold are legitimate, others are under-the-table crooked. Personally, I like to
make an honest gold coin. Ripping off other players is not my game, BUT, I'm here to deliver you
the information. Even if you are an honest player, knowing this info is good because it will keep
you on guard against the shadow players that like to scam you for a quick gold.

METHOD ONE: The AH Dupe

METHOD TWO: AH Monopoly

The AH Dupe: A Crooked way to Gain Gold

'A fool and his money are soon parted.'

With so many pockets running around the game, it is very possible to scam others out of their
money. Not everyone is financially bright, and these methods take advantage of that. First of all,
don't be stupid and use your main to do these. Get a mule (a different character), or even better
yet, a mule on a completely separate account, to mask your actions.

This works. Plain and simple. It takes advantage of human psychology of repetition. And it can
get you a very rapid 100 gold.

What it is:

The AH Dupe tries to 'trick' an auction buyer who is making a BUY-OUT purchase of a routine
item that normally sells for X amount of silver, into purchasing it for X amount of gold. the AH
dupe uses monotony to lull the purchaser into repetitious clicking, causing them to pay less
attention to what they are buying, and inadvertently purchasing the item for gold instead of silver.

How it works:

Have you ever driven a car at night, staring at the white lines zooming by on the road, and
suddenly realize that 5 minutes have gone by (or longer) and you have no idea how you were
able drive? You dont have a clue what cars have or have not been around you, because you
totally spaced out. Your subconscious mind went into 'auto-pilot' and you safely drove your car.
This is called 'being human'. Anyone exposed to repeated, repetitious stimuli is subject to losing
their ability to distinguish one from another. Can happen to anyone…including a WoW auction
buyer.

Look at this list:

* Do you want to purchase this item for 88 silver? Yes/No
* Do you want to purchase this item for 88 silver? Yes/No
* Do you want to purchase this item for 88 silver? Yes/No
* Do you want to purchase this item for 88 silver? Yes/No
* Do you want to purchase this item for 88 silver? Yes/No
* Do you want to purchase this item for 88 gold? Yes/No
* Do you want to purchase this item for 88 silver? Yes/No
* Do you want to purchase this item for 88 silver? Yes/No

The auction buyer sees a bunch of useful consumables (such as stacks of 20 light feathers, or
stacks of silk cloths, or free action potions, etc. Anything that is popular with players). he sees a
big list in the AH of these stacks, and they are going for the normal buy-out rate. He starts
purchasing them like he always does. One after another, clicking through each screen. He doesn't really notice that one says '88 gold' instead of '88 silver' so he clicks it anyway.

What you need to do:

Sell at least 6 or more IDENTICAL items on the AH. Make them for the normal going rate (not
cheaper or you could stand to lose money). Put them up back to back in one long list. The
buyout on the fifth item is gold instead of silver. Everything else must be identical. There is a
chance that the buyer will get 'caught' in your scam. Its not guaranteed, but there are always
dummies around that will be duped. This is a scam, and everyone who buys frequently from the
AH is susceptible to it.

Yes it does work. Numerous people have posted long rants on the official boards being
scammed like this.

METHOD TWO: Monopolize the AH

I'm just going to quote a post from the official boards that explains this rather nicely. This post is
no longer on the forums (they remove posts after a certain amount of days), so I cannot link it,
and didn't get the name of the person that wrote it. Fortunately, I did copy it the day I read it, so
its not mine, but here it is- it outlines perfectly how to make a fortune by monopolizing the
Auction House. Its cl######ic economics 101: BUY LOW, SELL HIGH. Read on:

I cancelled my account a while back for reasons there's no point in disclosing, so I figured I'd tell
everyone how they can be financially secure forever like I was.

I had about five active alts and a main which I kept equipment and skills up to date by the level
and had enough cash on me to afford my mount by level 25 with all my alts having about 15 gold
on them at any point in time.

I see so many people talking about how they're level 40-45 and still can't afford their mount and
blah blah blah, it's funny. These are the same people who ironically state, 'Stay away from the
auction house!' or you won't make any money.

Go ahead and go to the AH. It's as simple as buy low, sell high. Just like in the real world! Yet it
feels almost as if it's this big secret.

All I did was make level five newbie, sit him at the auction house and log on maybe once or twice
a day to bid on stuff and check mail. Took probably five minutes to do each session.

Find a product you want to do and see what the average buyout price is. Then bid on auctions
ending in Short and Medium (as there's usually little point in bidding on Long unless you wanna
collect all your outbids later), for as little as you can. Buyout other auctions for significantly less
than your Buyout. Bid on any good that's normally sold by itself that is stacked for a super
discount. A good example is Black Pearls. Normally people buy one. Every once in a while some
guy sells a stack of 16 for only like 10 gold. Usually only takes 1 bid to win it!

The only 'hard' part is keeping up with market price trends, but after a while, you won't even have
to write them down anymore as you'll be able to memorize them effortlessly with practice and the
prices don't fluctuate too drastically.

For the super lazy, here was my excel sheet of the market demand of Silver Hand a few weeks
ago. Prices will vary on your server.

Leathers
Light Leather 9s 99c
Medium Leather 19s 99c
Heavy Leather 29s 99c
Thick Leather 74s 99c

Bars
Copper Bar 39s 99c

Turtle Scale (10)* 1g 59s 99c

Cloth
Mageweave Cloth 1g 19s 99c

Large glimmering shrd 3g 49s 99c
Large glowing shard 3g 39s 99c
Soul dust 54s 99c
Strange dust 59s 99c

The bold goods are once that were in very healthy demand and supply. However, you don't even
have to limit yourself to trade goods. If you even wanted to take a bit of a risk, bid on some blue
or purple items or blacksmithing recipes. Big returns on those. Mainly, I just stuck with probably
three or four items from that list and made a fortune. And it was fun doing it! My level five guy has
demonslaying on his newb sword–it kicks ######. Here's a screenshot:

Good luck guys and see ya later!!

Blizzard's take on MMOs for consoles; no WoW for consoles
Female blood elf from Blizzard's World of Warcraft - Image 1In a recent interview with Blizzard's J. Allen Brack and Tom Chilton, they squashed every console gamers' hopes of seeing the highly acclaimed MMO, World of Warcraft, boxed neatly inside a console. Also discussed were several other topics regarding the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King, as well as other new content for the game.

Chilton was also rather excited about the new achievement system that they will be introducing soon. It will definitely give players something to strive for and extend their gameplay even further.

When asked about the hardest challenge the developers have encountered so far, Brack answered that the insertion of the new Death Knight class was the biggest hurdle they've faced. However, with the beta phase for WotLK well underway, modifications are still being made to the new character class before its official release with the new expansion.

One of the more interesting things they discussed was Blizzard's take on MMOs made for consoles and social networks. This doesn't necessarily mean gamers should hope for a console version of WoW soon. Brack specifically mentioned while this may work with other MMOs, this setup wouldn't really work with World of Warcraft. I guess this just means we'll just have to play WoW as it was meant to be played: on a PC.

World of Warcraft PTR 3.0.2 arriving soon (Warcraft)

's Public Test Realm has taken the backseat in favor of the Wrath of the Lich King beta, it doesn't mean Blizzard has totally ignored the test server altogether. The European servers have recently been wiped to make room for the new 3.0 build of the PTR, according to Blizzard poster Tigole.

Tigole also mentioned that some patches were on the PTR for over two months already and should receive some major testing once it goes live. In addition, 3.0.2 will be sure to arrive some time before Wrath of the Lich King 2.0.1, similar to when the pre-Burning Crusade patch was implemented a month before the actual expansion was released.

Since there are still a lot of people trying out the WotLK beta, this means people who want to test out the new updates in the PTR will have a lot of free space on the Realm to do so. Also, Tigole mentioned that none of the classes are done, so anyone willing to sign up for the PTR will be more than welcome.

Wrath of the Lich King pre-release patch coming soon
Lich King - Image 1 The Wrath of the Lich King expansion for Blizzard's much-loved World of Warcraft is all ready to invade the PC gaming world by storm. But before that, a new content patch is in order.

Says Blizzard, you can expect this patch to arrive in the coming weeks, and this is quite akin to what Blizz did prior to the release of The Burning Crusade.

This patch for WotLK essentially caters to the bridging of the current game content with the expansion. Gotta keep it all in the family, you know. As expected, there are, of course, exciting changes and additions, the most prominent of which are the following:

  • New class spells and talents
  • Stormwind Harbor
  • Barbershops in capital cities
  • Zeppelin towers outside of Orgrimmar and Tirisfal Glades
  • Two brand-new Arenas featuring challenging new layouts, terrain hazards, and moving obstacles
  • Guild calendar
  • Hunter pet skill revamp
  • New profession: Inscription

Do take note, though, that this is by no means the final list, so we're betting we'll be seeing some more stuff thrown our way before the patch comes out. Or if not, well, we can always check it out ourselves, right?

Oh, and do take heed, particularly all Burning Crusade players. You guys will be able to select Inscription as one of the two professions and level up to a skill level of 375 with it. On the release of WotLK, those who purchase and install the expansion will be able to continue their leveling in Inscription, as well as other professions, even beyond 375.

Watch out for the full patch notes! They're coming very soon.

Dyack: EVE Online 'unparalleled' compared to World of Warcraft (Warcraft)

, humans and night elves? In the eyes of Silicon Knights founder Denis Dyack it does. During an interview conducted by videogaming247, Dyack weighed both Blizzard's World of Warcraft and CCP Games' EVE Online on what he considered the superior MMO game.

Dyack admitted to trying out WoW for nearly a month when he told himself, "You know, I've got to stop this". He then came the conclusion that compared to EVE Online, the latter had more depth in terms of content and gameplay. Here's a quote from Dyack regarding his opinion on the Sci-Fi MMO game:

I was really, really big into EVE Online. I love EVE Online, and actually for me personally I actually think it s a better game. I know it s a lot harder core, but the depth of it s unparalleled and I love it. But I have to stop, force myself to stop playing those games because it takes so much time.

He was also relieved about finally finishing the development for Too Human. He said that this meant he now has time to play games of all sorts. Anyway, that apparently is his two cents regarding what he considers the better MMO title.

Leipzig: Games Convention 2009 dated, GC 2008 sets record
Leipzig 2008 - Image 1With the Leipzig Games Convention 2008 finally closing its curtains, we now get confirmation that next year's event has already been scheduled. The announcement was made via press release by Leipziger Messe GmbH CEO Wolfgang Marzin: GC 2009 will be held from August 19 to 23, also in Leipzig.

Along with the announcement, we hear of a survey conducted to this year's event's visitors, asking them if they'd want to see another GC next year.

Among all the visitors - whether trade exhibitor or part of the general public (some of which have travelled from half way across the world just to see the show) - a vast majority of about 90 agreed.

This makes me think of what the outcome would have been if a survey like this were conducted at the end of this year's E3, but moving on…

GC 2008's success is proven by the sheer number of visitors who dropped in: over the four-day period, some 203,000 people came in. Compared to last year, the number of software and hardware companies from around the world who participated in the Leipzig event have increased, from 189 to 234.
