Tradeskilling the smart way (Wow)

By the time I hit 30 on my first character I had really started to enjoy the tradeskills in World of warcraft. It was obvious though, that each tradeskill took a considerably amount of resources to gain access to higher level recipes. The big kicker though, is it didn t require a lot of time, which is where this guide comes in.

In World of Warcraft most tradeskills require two professions, one creates items, and the other is used to gather resources for the creation of those items. So lets list out the tradeskills that are used to gather resources for their complementary tradeskills:

Herbalism (for Alchemy)
Skinning (for Leathercrafting)
Mining (for Blacksmithing & Engineering)

The only two we ve left out is Tailoring and Enchanting which do not need complementary skills, they work off drop rates and item collection. Looking at these, I came up with a plan of attack that will allow me to level all of the tradeskills at the same time and very quickly to boot.

Our strategy revolves around selecting two resource-gathering tradeskills for each of your characters you play with. As those characters progress through the game collecting resources with their tradeskills, they send the resources to the appropriate mule. At the appropriate level, each toon will untrain one of their professions and train the trade skill that their gathering skill complements. This will allow extremely rapid development of trade skilling from the resources you ve collected throughout all of your characters.

Which Gathering Tradeskills to Train

While you can choose between herbalism and skinning, you must have mining. The reason you have to choose mining is because you ll need to supply two different characters with resources and with mining, it s a pain already to get resources for mining, so you may as well make it easier on yourself and get as much of it as you possibly can on each character. Then choosing between skinning and herbalism depends on your preference. For less stress I d say skinning because you don t have to keep choosing between find minerals and find herbs as you go through your leveling process. You ll want to have all your bases covered though, so make sure you have at least 1 or 2 characters gathering herbs.

Now that you ve planned your tradeskill selection you ll need to create the characters you ll be playing and start gathering resources.

When to Untrain your Tradeskill

It all depends on your patience and your pack space. Around level 25/30 you ll start seeing problems with pack space on your mules and it may be a good indicator that you should untrain. Optimally, you shouldn t untrain until level 60. Though I don t have that kind of patience myself, but I wouldn t respect until a minimal level 20 on my toons.

The reason why you want to keep your two gathering skills as long as possible before untraining is simple, you want to gather as many resources as you possibly can before starting the complementary tradeskill. I can t tell you how easy it is to level blacksmithing once you ve obtained 500 copper ore and 300 tin ore. That s 150 smithing in an hour. Not only that, but you didn t waste any of your time gathering resources, since your alts did it while you leveled them. You didn t have to grind for ore, or hang around a mountain to farm it just to level your smithing up a few more points. You simply gathered it when it was convenient to your progression through the game. It s all based on efficiency and the value of your time.

What Tradeskills are Important?

I m not going to get into the debate about which tradeskills are more useful, that is beyond the scope of this guide. However, I will tell you which tradeskills make this system work smoother, then you ll be able to gauge what your next step will be.

Tailoring: Tailoring is probably the most useful (and the most efficient to level) out of our tradeskill selection. The reason why it is so efficient to level is that every one of your characters can gather resources for this profession without a gathering skill. Not only that, but finding cloth is so common that people don t have a problem parting with it for nothing. Around 150 Tailoring skill you ll be able to create 10 slot bags, which should be dispatched to all of your mules who are missing bags. Oh and alliance tailors have the Journeyman, Expert and Artisans located in Stormwind.

Enchanting: I like Enchanting because it brings it all together. Enchanting makes sure that there will be no wasted items once you start grinding points on your other tradeskills. Any items you produce through your tradeskills will go directly to your Enchanter for disenchanting. Likewise, any items you may find along your journey that don t sell at the Auction House should go to your Enchanter for disenchanting. While leveling multiple tradeskills at a time, you should be producing a great deal of green items which will all get recycled to boost your Enchanting skill.

Blacksmithing: For the purpose of this guide, think of Blacksmithing as a way to unload pack space, because that ore really fills your inventory/bank up quickly. You ll always end up untraining to Blacksmithing first just to alleviate all the pack space you re gonna fill up with the ore you ll collect from mining. I even went as far as making a second mule dedicated to smith stuff just to prolong my training of blacksmithing, but alas, it too filled up quickly. As you level up through the tiers of armor you ll quickly pass your own level requirement, which means you ll always have armor waiting when you level.

Alchemy: Alchemy will supply your characters with quest items and health/mana potions as they progress through the game. Since Herbs don t take up a great deal of pack space I usually just wait off when it comes to training Alchemy.

Leathercrafting: Leathercrafting is another major pack space unloader. Seeing as though leathers only stack up to 10, and hides up to 5 (most of the time) it becomes rather pack space intensive after about 25 levels. Like Blacksmithing, Leathercrafters can also benefit your alts by giving out armor when it is useful.

Engineering: Though I d pickup Smithing long before engineering, it is a great pack space unloader as well as quest item supplier for certain quests (darkshire, badlands).

So Why Do All This?

Eliminate dependency, prepare for the updates and to help bridge the higher level tradeskills. If you have 250+ on all of the trade skills in the game, you are a one man green/blue item manufacturer. You will have an ease of item creation that no other player in the game can match. You see, when you hit the 250+ recipes a great deal of the recipes require resources from other professions. High level bag creation requires leathers from skinning, high level leathercrafting requires a Salt Shaker made by Engineers, Blacksmiths require Arcanite that is purified by an Alchemist. By eliminating the middle man you eliminate dependency on other people as well as a quicker means of obtaining the resources you need.

Preparing for updates is just always a good rule of thumb in an mmorpg. Eventually they ll add hero levels and new 300+ recipes that will allow you to obtain higher level items. You can bet that these new additions will have a lot of requirements from other trade skills but given Blizzard s flare for non-cookie cutter gameplay, it may be hard to pinpoint exactly what will come. If you want to experience those new recipes and items first, I suggest you get your tradeskilling up to par and keep your ear to the ground as new updates arrive.

>>Though I am a big fan of tradeskills, not everyone may share this flare. However, a lot of players enjoy creating alternate characters and leveling them up to 30 and starting over again. You might as well play it efficiently and quickly gain resources and tradeskilling points by refining your tradeskills and untraining at a later time. Remember, you only have to be level 35 to get to 300 points on any tradeskill. Though the 225-300 range may require you to kill level 50+ mobs, you can still achieve 300 through alternate means. Just gather those resources and when you re ready to focus on your gameplay on a single character or many alternates, you ll be amazed at how much smoother the game gets when you have the best armor every level from tradeskilling.

Play Both Factions on Same PvP Server (Warcraft)

Step 1: Go to your login screen

Step 2: Delete all your characters

Step 3: Make you a new character on the other faction

Step 4: Login to your new character and make a ticket about your while you where afk that your younger brother, sister, father, mother or stupid girlfried deleted all you characters. DONT say that you got hacked what so ever. They will close your account for investigation then, and we don t want that to happen, do we?

Step 5: Play on your new character while you wait for Blizzard to undelete the ones you deleted

Step 6: Grats with your new unique account

The downside with this is that you can t create more characters on the server

I can t say for sure that the gm`s wont check this on other servers, but what I can say for sure is that you will get your characters back. Almost all of my friends have done this, and all of them have got them back whit in 6 hours

Disenchanting For Profit - A Guide (Warcraft)

I've made a ton of gold doing this - thought it was about time I shared some tips and tricks. :)

The Basic Idea

Buy cheap armour and weapons, disenchant them, and sell the resulting crystals/shards/essences/dusts for a profit. Easy!

Addons

I use three:

Auctioneer (http://www.auctioneeraddon.com)
Tracks Auction House prices, adds improved searching/sorting capabilities, suggests prices when creating your own auctions, and automates the posting of multiple auctions. This is a must-have addon for anybody using the auction house.

Enchantrix (http://www.auctioneeraddon.com) - included with Auctioneer
Comes with a database of disenchantable items, and what they disenchant to - helps you choose which items to buy. (If you want to sell enchants as well, it will help you calculate what to charge for them based on Auctioneer's prices for the reagents).

(As of this writing, the release versions of Auctioneer and friends are not wow 2.x compatible, but the Beta version at http://www.auctioneeraddon.com/dl/AuctioneerComplete/ seems to be pretty solid now).

CT_MailMod (http://www.ctmod.net) - part of the CTMod package
Automates the sending/receiving of mail - open up to 50 mails with one click. You will be dealing with a lot of mail if you start doing this seriously. :)

Preparation

* Use Auctioneer to scan the Auction House. If you haven't used it before you should run scans regularly for a week or so, so that it can build up a good database of prices. Prices vary through the week - usually higher at weekends - and to a lesser extent through the day, so it is important to scan regularly over an extended period. To speed up the scans you can configure Auctioneer to scan only in the Trade Goods category, unless you are interested in prospecting in other areas.

* Train up your enchanting. As of patch 2.x, the maximum level of items you can disenchant depends on your enchanting skill. To disenchant items up to level 60, you need skill 225. You can train up to skill 60 with disenchanting alone which is a start; consult one of the 'powerskilling' guides in this forum for details on how to skill up efficiently from there.

* Learn how disenchanting works. When you disenchant an item, it may disenchant to several types of reagent - perhaps more than one reagent of a given type, but never to more than one type. For example, a level 41 green armour piece may disenchant to 1-2 Dream Dust OR (less frequently) 1-2 Greater Nether Essence OR (even less frequently) a Large Radiant Shard.

Weapons and armour disenchant to different items depending on their level requirement:

Levels 1-10: may disenchant to Strange Dust, Lesser Magic Essence or Small Glimmering Shard
11-15: Strange Dust, Lesser Magic Essence, Greater Magic Essence, Small Glimmering Shard
16-20: Strange Dust, Lesser Astral Essence, Greater Magic Essence, Large Glimmering Shard
21-25: Soul Dust, Greater Astral Essence, Large Glimmering Shard
26-30: Soul Dust, Lesser Mystic Essence, Small Glowing Shard
31-35: Vision Dust, Greater Mystic Essence, Large Glowing Shard
36-40: Vision Dust, Lesser Nether Essence, Small Radiant Shard
41-45: Dream Dust, Greater Nether Essence, Large Radiant Shard
46-50: Dream Dust, Lesser Eternal Essence, Small Brilliant Shard
51-55: Illusion Dust, Greater Eternal Essence, Large Brilliant Shard
56-60: Illusion Dust, Greater Eternal Essence, Large Brilliant Shard
50-60: Nexus Crystal from Epics, and very rarely (<1%) from Rares

Notes:

* Dusts drop most often from armour; essences from weapons. The only exception is Astral Essence, which drops exclusively from level 16-25 armour, never from weapons.

* Dusts and essences drop in larger quantities in higher level brackets (if they appear in more than one), e.g. a level 36 item may drop 3-5 Vision Dust, while a level 35 item may yield only 1-2.

* Blue items (nearly?) always yield a shard; greens yield one 4-5% of the time.

* Some green weapons/armour are not disenchantable at all, so be careful when bidding. Prominent examples are enchanter-crafted wands and the Twilight Trappings items (Twilight Cultist's Cowl etc.).

Buying

With Auctioneer and Enchantrix installed, when you mouse-over an item in the auction house a tooltip pops up telling you what it could disenchant to, with probabilities, and an expected value based on Auctioneer's price database. Because disenchanting is somewhat random, this is only a statistical estimate, but a good guide if you are disenchanting on a large scale. The simple rule is, if the item is 'cheaper enough' than its expected disenchant value, buy it!

You can look for good buys in any way you like, but I generally do the following:

1) Pick a level bracket (say, 46-50), item type (weapon or armour) and quality (uncommon or rare) and Search.

2) Look at a match and note its disenchant value in the tooltip. The value should be the same for all items of the same quality in the search results.

3) Figure out a maximum bid price. I usually bid up to 80-85% of disenchant value, but you may want to be more conservative. Remember that when you sell an item, the auction house takes a cut of 5% of the final sale price, so bidding much above 90% is a bad idea unless you have good reason to believe the estimate is too low.

4) Sort the list by current bid

5) Work through the list bidding on everything until you hit your bid limit. Remember to check all the pages.

Tips:

* If an item has a low buyout, or a buyout very close to its current bid, you may want to buy it outright instead of bidding

* If an item has a very low bid, consider bidding higher than the default to discourage others from outbidding you - better a smaller profit than none at all.

* Supply, demand and prices change, so don't be rigid in choosing your bid limit. If a reagent looks particularly rare at the moment, consider raising your limit. If there's an oversupply of a reagent, or you have a ton of it yourself already, you don't need to be so aggressive.

* Concentrate on level brackets which provide items you need, or think you'll need. Don't bid blindly on everything, or you'll end up with a huge surplus of certain reagents and fill up all your bags.

Disenchanting

Not much to say here. Grab your winnings from the mailbox and disenchant them.

Don't be disheartened if you make a loss on an item. So you paid 2g50 for something that yielded one lousy Illusion Dust; but next time you may get two Greater Eternal Essence from the same item - instant 10g profit. It's a gamble, but if you bid sensibly, the odds are in your favour in the long run.

Selling

It's mostly the same as selling any other type of item - know your market and set your prices accordingly. However, a few tricks:

* Lower level dusts and essence (up to level 40) are mostly bought by people who are skilling up enchanting themselves, and are buying in large quantities. You can save yourself some time by selling only full stacks of these reagents. Lower level shards (glowing and below) tend to be hard to sell - learning enchanters usually go for the dusts and essences because they're cheaper.

* At higher levels, there are still people skilling up, but also non-enchanters buying ingredients for individual enchants. I usually sell singly and in stacks of 5, 10 and 20 to cover all bases.

* Check prices for different quantities individually - single items and small stacks are often more in demand than full stacks, and can be sold for proportionally more.

* Keep your bid price close to or even the same as your buyout, to avoid people bidding, winning, and undercutting you. There is no deposit on enchanting reagent auctions, so no penalty for them expiring. I have mine set at 95% of buyout, but I sometimes go a little lower if I want to undercut someone.

* Watch for disparities in the prices and supply of lesser and greater essences: lesser essences often sell for more than a third of the price of greater ones. (I guess many people don't know that you can split/combine them).

* Don't flood the market. You may have 20 stacks of Vision Dust itching to be sold, but it's very unlikely that you'll get rid of all of it in 24 hours, and oversupply drives prices down. I usually limit myself to 4 stacks of dusts, 2 of essences, and 1 of shards, sometimes more for the lower level reagents that tend to sell in large quantities if they sell at all. You can always replenish your auctions if some of them sell.

* If you find you are running low on a particular reagent, jack your prices while you restock. Far better for your auctions to expire than to run out of a reagent when there's a shortage, and see people selling it for twice its normal price.

* Adjust your prices to track the market, but don't lower them too far. Floods never last forever, and after a while you should get a feeling for a baseline price where things will always sell eventually. Enchantrix includes some built-in baseline prices, used in the tooltip, but they may not match your server's economy; you can adjust them by editing the .lua files if you like.

* Use Auctioneer's 'Post Auctions' pane rather than the default UI. If you have scanned recently (always a good idea before posting auctions) it displays a list of other auctions for the same item to help you choose a price (or buyout cheap auctions). It can also automate the posting of multiple auctions - e.g. 10 auctions of Illusion Dust@1g20.

* In recent versions of Auctioneer, manually searching for an item using the regular 'Browse' UI - and viewing every page of matches - updates Auctioneer's prices for that item, so you don't need to do a full scan if you are only posting a few different types of item.

And that's it

The Recently Deceased Part 5 (World of warcraft)

[56] A Matter of Time
Objectives : Kill 15 Temporal Parasites
Rewards : +15 Intellect, +4 Stamina, +4 Strength, +3 Spirit Cloth Shoulders

To get this quest, you need to venture into the Ruins of Andorhal and find Chromie the Gnome. If you have a look at the map below, where the #6 is, there is a small path that leads into the main part of the zone. If you approach the ruins near there, it's the quickest route. Chromie is located at the top of the 'inn' like building just below the #6 but you will have to fight your way in. If you were to come from the west path, you want the first full building on your left.

Once you have found Chromie, collect this quest from her and the head back out of the ruins, around to the east side. You want to head roughly to where #7 is marked on the map, along the edge of Andorhal Ruins, not far from the Writhing Haunt. You are looking for tall wooden structures that will have a blue glow to them.

Fight your way close to the towers and then use the Temporal Displacer to uncover the Temporal Parasites. Most times you will get two parasites come through, occasionally you will get three. Also, sometimes when you get two and kill them, a third one will spawn on it's own. You can only use the Temporal Displacer once at each silo, once the blue glow disappears, you need to move onto another glowy one. Once done, head back to Chromie.

[56] Counting Out Time
Objectives : Locate 5 Andorhal Watches
Rewards : Attuned Dampener - Inflict 525 to 675 arcane damage on the attuned target, and lower the damage it deals by 25%.

The second quest from Chromie sends you in and around the Ruins of Andorhal to find some Watches. You can get all 5 without having to wander very far from the building she is in, just keep your eyes open for wandering elites. The watches are inside 'Small Lockbox's' and there is usually one in the corner of every ruins, just have to check all corners.

Note that the reward is a one use item, but the quest is repeatable (no xp second time around) if you want more. After you have collected your 5, head back to Chromie and hand in.

[56] Unfinished Business
Objectives : Kill 2 Scarlet Medics, 2 Hunters, 2 Magi and 2 Knights
Rewards : XP!

Kirsta Deepshadow gives this quest, and unless you have been to her before, she can be quite tricky to locate. The easiest way to get to her is to head up behind the Dalson's Tears farm, where you should eventually enter Northridge Lumber Camp. If you run up the west cliff wall of the camp, you will find the safest route with only a few spiders and wolves.

While running up this side, keep one eye on the mini map as you should be able to see the 'path' leading down to Kirsta there before you actually come upon it. You are looking for a dip in the cliffs that leads down to a cart, Kirsta will be kneeling behind it. Alternatively, you can run up the path leading to Hearthglen till you get to the tower and then go cliff jumping…

Once you find her, she will give you this first step. The Medics and Hunter's are best found at the Scarlet Crusade's base camp, the first camp you killed at. The Magi are best found along the path to Hearthglen along with some Knights, but if you have trouble getting those, look around the Lumber Mill. Once done, return to Kirsta.

[57] Unfinished Business
Objectives : Kill Huntsman Radley and Cavalier Durgen
Rewards : XP!

The next step requires you to take out two important members of the Crusade. They are both found along the path to Hearthglen so you need to make your way out and around. You can bypass the group of mobs at the very base of the camp, because even if you get agro, by the time you get near the first named, they drop off.

About half way up the path you want to keep your eye open for a bit that leads up into the mountains, it will be on your right. Up that little path there, you will kill a couple of mobs before finding Huntsman Radley and her pet pooch at the end. Most likely you will have one add in the mix, but if you fear the pet and Seduce the add, you can take them out no worries.

Further up the road you will come upon a tower, and that is where Cavalier Durgen will be hanging out. Clear the mobs at the bottom and then just wait, eventually durgen will not only wander down to the bottom of the tower, he will wander right out front. Pull him back and kill him, but beware he does hit hard and fast, sometimes a bit of a shock to those not prepared.

[58+] Unfinished Business (Elite)
Objectives : Enter Hearthglen and find a high vantage point from which you can see the town and gauge the Scarlet Crusade's forces
Rewards : XP!

Now, although this is an elite quest, and you are about to run into an area full of elite mobs, you can do this! When you come to the end of the path, you will find Hearthglen. There will be a mob at either side of the main entrance, along with a third one just inside. I have drawn up a map (a very bad one lol) to help explain where you need to go a little better, but you basically want the tower that's just near the front.

If you use your eye to learn the way, you enter the main gates, follow it around to your left and you are already beside the tower you need. You can also go around to the right, but there is a stable with additional mobs on that side. There will also be mobs inside the tower, but if you summon your Voidwalker before entering, you can utilize the sacrifice shield to run up the tower.

If you have a Nifty Stopwatch (Badlands quest), this will come in handy too. You only need to make it to the top of the tower to complete the quest, so once you're up there you can jump off and make your way back out the main gates to safety. I think all in all I lost about 30% of my hitpoints, and that was from the jump more than the mobs. For 6200xp at level 57, it was worth it.

Winterspring

Started at level 57
Finished at level 58

With Western Plaguelands out the way, you could head over to Eastern Plaguelands, but with both Winterspring and Sithilis starting to go green now, I chose to go there first. I chose to do Winterspring first as Sithilis mobs, although around the same level, can be a bit harder.

[54] Chillwind Horns
Objectives : Collect 8 Uncracked Chillwind Horns
Rewards : XP!

[56] Wild Guardians
Objectives : Kill 15 Raging Owlbeasts and 15 Ragged Owlbeasts
Rewards : XP!

These two quests can be done while running around the zone. Chillwind Horns is the follow on from the Burning Steppes quests, after you completed the Broodling Essence. There are three different types of Chillwind Chimaera around the zone; Fledgling Chillwind, Chillwind Ravagers and Chillwind Chimaeras. All three will drop the horns, however I had the best rate with the 'fledgling' which was nice as they are the lower level ones.

You will find the Fledgling Chillwind along the west side of the zone, usually higher up in the rocky part than along the flat part near the path. Up there is also where you will find the best population of Ragged Owlbeasts. Both mobs will be mixed in and around with Bears, Yeti's etc so you will just have to kill everything (yay xp!)

For the Raging Owlbeasts to complete Wild Guardians (which comes from Felwood btw) you want to head just north of Everlook. They are basically all around the area up there, ranging quite wide.

[56] Threat of the Winterfall
Objectives : Kill 8 Winterfall Pathfinders, 8 Den Watchers, and 8 Totemics.
Rewards : XP!

[56] Winterfall Ritual Totem
Objectives : Take the Winterfall Ritual Totem inside Timbermaw Hold and see if one of the furbolgs there will find a use for the item.
Rewards : XP!

[56] Winterfall Firewater
Objectives : Bring the Empty Firewater Flask to Donova Snowden
Rewards : XP!

All of the above three are done in the same area, however the last two come from items that drop so you will only have the Threat of Winterfall which comes from Donova Snowden. If you are still working on your Timbermaw faction, these furbolgs, like their cousins in Felwood, will assist that.

Just over the path from Donova you will find Frostfire Hot Springs, and the furbolg's you need. While killing these you may be fortunate enough to have a Winterfall Ritual Totem drop, which like the one from Felwood, you hand into Kernda inside the tunnels. Almost a high enough drop rate to guarantee you will see one is that Empty Firewater Flask, which you return to Donova.

[56] Falling to Corruption
Objectives : Search the Deadwood furbolg camp in northern Felwood for a clue
Rewards : XP!

After you give Donova the Empty Firewater Flask, you need to duck into Felwood, to the cauldon at the very back of the Felaw Village, the camp at the very top. If you are coming in from the path you want to head to the left of the water area there, and at the back you will find the largest of the camps, and in that camp the cauldron you need.

If you do this quest during the day, you can usually find people clearing the furbolgs for faction so you can just duck in and grab the cauldron when it's free. If there is no one there you may need to seek help as you tend to get the entire camp in one hit. After the cauldron, head back to Donova once again.

[56] Toxic Horrors
Objectives : Collect 3 Toxic Horror Droplets
Rewards : XP!

For a Winterfall quest series, I seemed to be heading into Felwood a lot. For the Toxic Horror Droplets you need to head back into Felwood to the Irontree Woods and locate the Toxic Horrors, the big elementals around the water. I got all three droplets from the first three I killed, however it's finding the three that is the hardest part as there seemed to be a constant stream of people after them. Once you do have them, head back to Donova.

[57] Winterfall Runners
Objectives : Find the Winterfall Runners and stop them from delivering their shipment to Winterfall Village.
Rewards : XP!

You may have seen these guys through your travels in Winterspring. They are three furbolgs that wander up and down the path, and now, it's time to kill them. I was already 58 by the time I came to this step and as they were 3 level 57's, I made good use of fear. They tend to be easiest to find along the main path from Felwood to Everlook.

After you have taken all three down and looted the package head back to Donova. Now, when you hand in you will have some Winterfall Ambusher's spawn, for what I'm not entirely sure. I got taken a little by surprise but managed to kill all three, only to find they aren't lootable and I got zero xp.

[56] Are We There, Yeti?
Objectives : Collect 10 Thick Yeti Furs
Rewards : XP!

Just out from Everlook you will find Ice Thistle Hill's and lots of Yeti's. I had a pretty good drop rate with these and found no need to enter the cave you will find at the top there, although you will need that for later steps. Once you have your 10 furs, return to Umi.

[56] Are We There, Yeti?
Objectives : Collect 2 Pristine Yeti Horns
Rewards : XP!

Heading back to Ice Thistle Hills, you can choose to hunt outside, or enter the caves. You are hunting the Patriarch's and Matriarch's as they are the only ones that will drop the Horns, and the caves do seem to have a higher population.

[58] Are We There, Yeti?
Objectives : Take Umi's Mechanical Yeti and scare her friends with it
Rewards : Mechanical Yeti! Use: Summons a mechanical yeti that will protect you for 10 minutes.

Now comes the fun part! You will find Legacki in Everlook just left of the Inn, Sprinkle in Gadgetzan and Quixxil in Marshal's Refuge, Un'Goro Crater. When you get close to them, right click the yeti to release it and watch it chase them around. Once done, return to Umi in Winterspring.

[58] Winterfall Activity
Objectives : Kill 8 Winterfall Shaman, 8 Winterfall Den Watchers, and 8 Winterfall Ursa
Rewards : 4 Reward options… none of which are very good (only 1 cloth)

Just as you enter Winterspring from Felwood, you should find Salfa, he'll be guarding the entrance to the tunnel. You need to head over to Winterfall Village to find these mobs, and the Ursa's will give you the most trouble as there seem to be only one or two in the entire camp. The hardest part of this quest is finding the mobs alive as it seems everyone and their dog hunts here.

[58] Wild Guardians
Objectives : Kill 13 Moontouched Owlbeasts
Rewards : XP!

A follow on from the earlier Wild Guardian's quest, the Moontouched Owlbeasts are found along the eastern wall. They can also be found further south, however I had no problems getting the 13 killed.

[59] Wild Guardians
Objectives : Kill 10 Berserk Owlbeasts
Rewards : XP!

[59] Guarding Secrets
Objectives : Take the Blue-feathered Necklace to Trull Failbane at Bloodvenom Post.
Rewards : XP!

You probably saw a lot of the Berserk Owlbeasts while killing the Moontouched so shouldn't have too much trouble. While you are killing these you will most likely have a Blue-feathered Necklace drop, they can drop off the moontouched, however I had each one drop from the Berserk Owlbeasts. All you need to do is hand this in at Felwood and then in Thunder Bluff. Very easy.

That was me done with Winterspring!

Silithus

Started at level 58
Finished at level 59

[55] Deadly Desert Venom
Objectives : Collect 8 Stonelash Scorpid Stingers and 8 Sand Skitterer Fangs
Rewards : XP!

[55] Securing the Supply Lines
Objectives : Kill 15 Dredge Strikers
Rewards : XP!

You can do both of these quests around the North East part of the zone as the mobs are all over. I did a big arc around from the top of Cenarion Hold around to Southwind Village to complete the following quest.

[55] The Spirits of Southwind
Objectives : Free the spirits of 8 Tortured Druids and 8 Tortured Sentinels
Rewards : XP!

You will these at Southwind Village and you should find enough around the bottom that you don't have enter the main part. When you kill each one, you will 'stir the nearby silithid' which spawns between one to three mobs right on top of you. You get XP for each one it spawns which is nice, but sometimes it can be a juggling act when you get three.

Once I had completed all three quests, I headed back to Cenarion Hold to see what was next.

[57] Noggle's Last Hope
Objectives : Gather 3 Stonelash Pincer Stingers, 3 Stonelash Flayer Stingers and 3 Rock Stalker Fangs
Rewards : Major Healing Potion / Major Mana Potion

[57] Stepping Up Security
Objectives : Kill 20 Dredge Crushers
Rewards : Major Healing Potion / Major Mana Potion

[57] Desert Recipe
Objectives : Look for information about cooking Sandworm Meat at the Twilight's Hammer camp
Rewards : Smoked Desert Dumplings Recipe

For these three you want to head west out of Cenarion Hold, and again the mobs you need are pretty much everywhere. I made my way to the Twilight's Hammer camp first, killing any mobs I passed on the way. I'm not sure, but you may need cooking to pick up the 3rd quest.

What you are looking for is a sandy cookbook and I found mine on a table next to a 'Wind Stone'. Once I had the book, I made my way south east to the edge of Hive Regal, that is where I found the best spot to hunt the Scorpids and Spiders.

The Stonelash Flayers are the greeny / blue scorpids, while the Stonelash Pincers are more yellowy. The Rock Stalkers are the tiny spiders. I found just out from Hive Regal was a good spot that had all three so I hung there for a while, before making my way back to Cenarion Hold. Of course I killed any Dredge Crushers I passed, you can't miss them, they are huge!

[60] Secret Communication
Objectives : Collect 10 Encrypted Twilight Texts
Rewards : XP!

There are probably lots of little spots that people go to for these, however not very familiar with Silithus, I made my way north to Twilight's Run, well actually, just in front of it. I had zero problems single pulling all the mobs around the edge, and had a fairly ok drop rate. I have heard some horror stories about drop rates, only hindered by the fact these are farmed by lots of different people.

[60+] Dearest Natalia
Objectives : Question the inhabitants of Bronzebeard's Encampment
Rewards : XP!

Although marked with an Elite tag, this quest is extremely easy and in no way dangerous. When you arrive at the Encampment you will see two Dwarves there, all you need to do is have a chat with them. The following step sends you into the Hive Regal which IS full of elite mobs, and as such I didn't do.

[58] Noggle's Lost Satchel
Objectives : Retrieve Noggle's Satchel
Rewards : 2 x Elixir of the Mongoose OR 2 x Elixir of the Sages

Just behind the Bronzebeard's Encampment, you will see a path heading up into the mountains, Noggle's Satchel is up there. On this path however, is Deathclasp, and he's got that name for a reason! There is a quest to kill him, however he is elite, comes with two adds and stuns… after being completely mauled by him, I skipped that quest =p

Both him and his entourage wander, so you can do some nifty moves and easily skip past him. The Satchel is about half way up, on your left. Grab and run like the wind bullseye! (Sorry just watched Toy Story 2)

[57] Kitchen Assistance
Objectives : Create 10 Smoked Desert Dumplings
Rewards : XP!

(Again I'm not sure if you need cooking for these quests). After you have returned the sandy cookbook, Calandrath asks you to create 10 Smoked Desert Dumplings. The Sandworm meat drops from the… you guessed it, Sandworms.

[58] The Twilight Mystery
Objectives : Collect 8 Twilight Tablet Fragments.
Rewards : XP!

For this quest you want to head up the very North West part of the zone, where you will find the Elementals guarding the area. Overall I had very little trouble with this quest.

With only elite quests left, and a little sick of all the people, I called it a day for Silithus.

Eastern Plaguelands

Started at level 59
Finished at level 60

I was actually almost to 60 by the time I left Silithus, but as I didn't want to grind the last quarter, I made my way to Eastern Plaguelands. If you have the flight path, you can take a bat there, but as I came in from the Zepplin anyway, I just ran through Western Plaguelands. The firsts quests I got were from that side of the zone anyway…

[56] Blood Tainted Skies
Objectives : Slay 30 Plaguebats
Rewards : XP!

[56] Carrion Grubbage
Objectives : Collect 15 Slabs of Carrion Worm Meat
Rewards : XP!

[56] Demon Dogs
Objectives : Kill 20 Plaguehound Runts, 5 Plaguehounds and 5 Frenzied Plaguehounds
Rewards : XP!

You collect all three of these quests from Tirion Fordring who is found up along the river that joins the Plaguelands. I tend to grab these and just do them as I run around, the mobs for all three are everywhere. All the grubs can drop the meat, however the 'slugs' over to the east can have a better drop rate, sometimes two at a time.

The Plaguebats and Plaguehound Runts are more over to the west side of the zone, but there are so many of them you really shouldn't have any troubles. For the frenzied and normal plaguehounds, you want to head futher east.

[55] Sister Pamela
Objectives : Find Pamela Redpath
Rewards : XP!

[55] Pamela's Doll
Objectives : Find Find Pamela's doll
Rewards : XP!

The first step I had from Winterspring. You will find Pamela in Darrowshire, at the ruined house right at the back. Once you speak to her, she will ask you to retrieve her doll, which is in three parts. The head, the left side and the right side can spawn in any of the other three houses and when you get right click each part, you will spawn 1 or 2 ghosts.

Kill the ghosts, loot the doll parts and right click to combine once you have all three.

[56] Auntie Marlene
Objectives : Speak with Marlene
Rewards : XP!

[56] Uncle Carlin
Objectives : Find Carlin Redpath
Rewards : XP!

After you have returned the doll to Pamela, she asks you to seek out her Auntie and Uncle. Auntie Marlene is actually in Western Plaguelands, at Sorrow Hill which is just south east of the Ruins of Andorhal. There is a house just next to a graveyard and you will find Marlene inside, usually upstairs.

After you speak to Marlene, you are given a second step; A Strange Historian. Joseph's wedding ring is found outside in the graveyard, there will be one grave you can loot. When you have the ring, take it to Chromie. I didn't do the next part…

Carlin Redpath can be found at Light's Hope Chapel, which is also where you will find the flight path if you haven't already grabbed it.

And that…dinged me 60! There are lots of other quests available that I didn't do, and it just goes to show you really can solo your way to 60.

And Ladys And Gentlemen, That is the end

Leveling The Ultimate SoloablePVE Character Template (Wow)

After much debate, character rerolling and tapdancing on the backs of hundreds of different types of mobs, I have decided upon the ULTIMATE soloable/PVE template!

I realize everyone has a varying opinion when it comes to these sorts of templates, however there were a few criteria I had in mind when creating this template.

1. Make excessive amounts of money.
2. Rarely, if ever, have to purchase ANYTHING from the Auction House other than weapons and armor.
3. A character which could provide his/herself excellent buffs without having to be a mage. This provides the benefit of superb armor, excellent damage and you don't have to relegate yourself to the mystical professions.

So, that all being said here's what I've come up with. I've put this to test up to level 30 with a Dwarven Hunter and it is BY FAR the best template I've come across yet.

Class:
Hunter (but can be ANY melee character)

Two Main Professions:
Alchemy
Herbalism

Sub-Professions:
Cooking
First Aid
Fishing

I've shown this to a few people, and oddly enough almost ALL of these professions (other than fishing) have proven to be highly unpopular. When I first created my character, I must admit I didn't realize the huge benefits of both cooking and first aid, and selected them both without realizing I couldn't drop them at a later time (they put me to 3 subprofessions)!

Now, let me break down each profession and how they allow you to become my idea of the "Ultimate Soloable Character".

Alchemy:

This profession, allows you to mix up some excellent potions which push all your attributes much higher than the norm, for periods between 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Buying instead of crafting your own potions is a never-ending money pit, and quite unnecessary.

Herbalism:

This is undoubtedly the most tedious, yet most rewarding, profession to level in the game. The grind can be quite tedious, IF you level this profession at very early levels. I recommend waiting to level 20 or so to even begin taking up the profession.

I first took alchemy around level 21 and simply ran around the areas where low level toons (level 5-15) roam. By running around the entire map in a circular fashion, I was able to level up my herbalism skill to 75 in just about an hour. After leveling up to journeyman Herbalist, I headed back out and hit 100 in another 30 minutes. Not bad at all. I highly recommend leveling herbalism in this fashion, as you don't have to worry about mobs in the area, as most of them will drop within 1-2 hits.

Also, obviously to be completely self sufficient in alchemy, you have to be an herbalist as well. Alchemy without herbalism is useless.

Cooking:

The first subprofession I have chosen is also a highly unpopular profession within wow. However, for those of you who aren't already cooks what if I were to tell you all those pieces of boar/bear meat you've been selling to NPCs could have given you some EXCELLENT buffs? Buffs you typically pay for?

Here's an example, since level 20 I've been creating "Curiously Tasty Omelettes". These omelettes require only a raptor egg and 1 bag of hot spices. The raptor eggs are available in abundance from just hunting in areas such as the Wetlands, and a bag of hot spices runs you 10 copper at your local cooking establishment.

Whenever you consume a food for more than 10 seconds that has been created by a chef, you get a buff called "well fed". This can result in any number of buffs to your character depending on the food eaten, but for instance the curiously tasty omelets grants me +6 spirit and +6 Stamina for 15 minutes. Considering you make these omelets in batches of 5 at a time, it's an excellent value. And as you progress through the game and begin picking up higher level drops from mobs the food and buffs only get better.

So DO NOT SELL those pieces of boar meat/bear meat/eggs etc you pick up just during your regular hunting grind. Use these instead to up your cooking skill and create foods which will grant you some great buffs.

First Aid:

All those pieces of wool/linen/silk you've been picking up AREN'T just for tailors and leatherworkers. Instead of selling these to the vendor, take up the First Aid profession instead.

Here's the aspect of first aid I absolutely love……you can heal YOURSELF quickly and efficiently purely from drops. There is no need to head back to the local auction house and begin bidding on healing potions. You can just create your own healing items out of common humanoid drops.

For instance, with a single wool cloth you can create a bandage which heals you for 167 damage. With 2 pieces of wool cloth you can create a bandage which heals you for 301 damage. It only gets better with silk, 1 piece of silk will give you a bandage which heals you for 400 damage!

Fishing:

Many of the foods you'll make as a chef require fish. Instead of shouting in town for specific food components, just go out and fish for them yourself. Not much to explain here, fishing is pretty self explantatory. But again, the idea of this template was to be TOTALLY self sufficent outside of armor and weapon purchases. Fishing/cooking allow this to happen. You really shoudn't have one without the other, as some of the fish-based dishes you'll make grant amazing buffs.

An analysis of my character prior/post my "self created" buffs:

So let's do a little analysis of my completely unbuffed level 30 hunter prior to taking ANY of my self created potions, or eating my tasty omelets.

Stats Prior to Potions/Food:

Strength: 67
Agility: 86
Stamina: 101
Intellect: 53
Spirit: 71
Armor: 938
Health: 1130

Potions I'll be Consuming:

Now, these are potions I take as a hunter at level 30, again I created these ALL myself just through the herbalism/al
chemy profession. Buying all of these at the auction house on a regular basis would cost you a FORTUNE. This way, you can do it for free………and while you are collecting the herbs yourself you're gaining XP for both your professions and overall leveling. A win/win situation!

Elixir of Ogre's Strength (sells for 40-75s on AH)
- Adds 8 Strength for 1 hour
Elixir of Greater Defense (Sells for 60s-1G on AH)
- Adds 250 Armor for 1 hour
Elixir of Agility (Sells for 50s-1G on AH)
- Adds 15 Agility for 1 hour
Elixir of Fortitude (Sells for 40s on AH)
- Increases Health by 120 for 1 hour

Food I'll be Eating:

Curiously Tasty Omelet (Stack of 20 Sells for 75s on AH)
- Grants +6 Stamina
- Grants +6 Spirit

Stats Post Potion/Food Consumption:

Strength: 75
- An increase of approximately 12%
Agility: 101
- An increase of approximately 17%
Stamina: 107
- An increase of approximately 5%
Intellect: 53
- No increase
Spirit: 77
- An increase of approximately 8%
Armor: 1218
- An increase of approximately 30%
Health: 1412
- An increase of approximately 25%

So across the board we have SIGNIFICANT gains in stats across the board. These stats result in MUCH more powerful attacks (both ranged and melee) equivalent to being 3-5 levels above your current level. And the best part about all of this? It's absolutely free with this template.

With just a single potion of each above, and 4 Omelets (to equal the one hour buffs of the other potions) you'd pay anywhere between 2 gold to 2.3 gold on the auction house. This is quite simply impossible to accomplish without unloading a TON of cash on these items alone, but you will obviously suffer greatly in the armor/weapon department.

With this template you will be a BEAST, and can regularly solo mobs 2-3 levels higher than you, however don't go any higher than this as the "miss" rate is far too high beyond this threshold (although with these buffs if it wasn't you could destroy mobs 5 levels higher).

Monetary Benefits:

The main money maker here is herbalism. Most high level players have a large amount of gold on them simply from drops. Existing high level Alchemists have become quite dependent on their high level potions, however aren't big fans of the grind of collecting herbs to make them.

Also, many times you simply have people out there who are re-rolling (or have purchased online currency) who are grinding alchemy purely by purchasing items at the AH. Take a look next time on your server and check out the prices of the following herbs:

Wild Steelbloom
Stranglekelp
goldthorn

All three of these herbs are EXTREMELY vital to many of the potions I listed above, so there's no surprise to learn that just 2-3 of each of these herbs can get you in excess of one gold a piece. Also, keep in mind in herbalism each time you harvest a single node of herbs you ALWAYS get 2-3 pieces of the herb at a time. So it's simple, harvest just ONE node of Wild Steelbloom and you're pretty much guaranteed 1 gold. And when you take into consideration you only need to have a level of 115 to harvest Wild Steelbloom, there aren't any MAJOR roadblocks to entering this highly untapped market.

I've made 20 gold on the AH in just the past 2 days of light playing, strictly selling steelbloom. With this money I've been able to purchase some excellent rare weapons and armor. In combination with my self-made mega buffs these weapons and armor make me even more powerful when soloing mobs. When grouping is a MUST (for certain elite quests) I've had folks 3-4 levels higher than me who comment how strong I am, mostly because the mobs they attempt to tank always seem to aggro me! How embarrasing for them! To feel gimped when partied with a guy 3 or 4 levels lower than them.

Final Thoughts:
Again, I realize templates are all about individual playing styles, but after much tinkering and playing in the world of wow I have found this template to be unparalleled in terms of near total self-sufficiency, while still allowing the character to make large sums of money in the open market.

Have fun, and please feel free to post your own templates or additions.

Kidnap the Villagers (Wow)

This is a fun trick to pull in the lowbie towns. Use a priest's Mind Control power on a town NPC and order him to follow you. Then start to lead him outside of town. Once the Mind Control wears off, have another player root that NPC, heal, then Mind Control again. By rotating those powers you'll be able to lead your hapless villager anywhere in the world you'd like. So take him to the middle of nowhere and lock him in so he can't just wander back.

Be sure to grab crucial quest NPCs, and go and watch the chaos when the guard captain the newbies were gathering rat tails for is nowhere to be found.

Faster flag running's in BGs (Wow)

** Seasonal Exploit **

I wanted to mention to you all that while the Halloween event is going on, you can use Wisp Form and run flags in WSG at Wisp speed. It actually makes quite a bit of difference since no one can catch you if you have a lead on them.

1. Trick or treat from any Innkeeper and receive one of these two items

2. Cast it on Flag Runner.

Note - the flag carrier will not be able to attack or cast spells, best class to do this is a Warrior with a shield equipped, and a Priest assisting.

[2] Rogues Loot List

It embarrasing enough when a Rogues tries to roll on Druid pieces when he/she doesn't know its a druid only item and rolls on it based on stats, so heres a nice loot list by a friend of mine :

Heres another loot list I found on Google :

[3] Builds

The main thing people get wrong as Rouges are the builds; they either copy someone elses * its not that bad, but still * or randomly select points. First time Rogue especially have htis problem, well heres some thing to fix this.

===========================
How to use this build: ^ the one above

First is to always open up with a cheap shot or ambush ( I use ambush ) then start pounding away with SS then when at 3 - 5 Pts ( Depends on your HP and Targets HP ) use Evi, then repeat. If you reach 50% HP its best you use Vanish then Cheap Shot, then SS till target has max Pts on him/her then if Evi isnt rdy by now use Prep then Cold Blood to hopefully finish the target. Using this build requires the true rogue or a sneeking player if your non of tht by all means don't use this build lol, you'll just get Murdered like a Decked out Rogue vs the Holy Priest.
——————————————–
Here was My DoT * Damage over Time * Build:

# Improved Kidney Shot - 2/3 points
Reduces the cooldown of your Kidney Shot ability by 4 seconds.

# Improved Deadly Poison - 2/5 points
Increases the chance to apply Deadly Poison to your target by 6%.

COMBAT: 0 Pts

———————
# Master of Deception - 5/5 points
Reduces the chance enemies have to detect you while in Stealth mode. More effective than Master of Deception (Rank 4)

# Elusiveness - 5/5 points
Reduces the cooldown of your Evasion, Vanish, and Blind abilities by 1.3 minutes.

# Opportunity - 5/5 points
Increases the damage dealt when striking from behind with your Backstab, Garrote, or Ambush abilities by 20%.

# Improved Garrote - 2/2 points
Increases the duration of your Garrote ability by 6 seconds, but reduces the damage by 10%.

# Improved Rupture - 3/3 points
Increases the damage of dealt by your Rupture ability by 30%.

# Improved Distract - 2/2 points
Increases the radius of your Distract ability by 5 yards.

# Preparation - 1/1 point
When activated, this ability immediately finishes the cooldown on your other Rogue abilities.

# Improved Cheap Shot - 2/2 points
Reduces the Energy cost of your Cheap Shot ability by 20.

# Hemorrhage - 1/1 point
An instant strike that damages the opponent and causes the target to hermorrhage, increasing any Physical damage dealt to the target by up to 3. Lasts 30 charges or 15 seconds. Awards 1 combo point.

Level 46: 5 damage increase
Level 58: 7 damage increase
==========================
How to use this build: ^ the one above

Do NOT use SS, because it is a waste of energy in this build, use Hemorrhage to open up atks, its required hat you use either Rupture or Evi, the battle conditions will tell you wat to do, if you open up with Garrote its best you use Evi when at 3-5 Pts on the Enemy, but if you use Cheap Shot ( NO Ambush ) its best you use Rupture then start hacking/slashing away with Hemorr and Evi. Also in this build since you do less Instant/Burst Dmg its best you use Swords, no Maces because since the patch up Blizzard has reduced the ammount of Dmg Maces do with Rogues. Using Swords with Strength and Agilty are the key ( No Stamina, your gear can do that ) because you want to hit hard while doing DoT.

I hope you like this.
=================
[6] Professions

+ Mining

This is a grreat money maker for a Rogue and I highly recommend it at low lvls so you can save up for a mount, if you do this for farming mats its best you pair it w/ Skinning, Blacksmithing is practicly useless with Rogues because Rogues don't use Mail or Plate, and the weapons that are made arn't benifical for a Rogue.

+ Herbalism

A good partner with Alchemy, though not much of a money maker by itself w/ Alchemy its a money maker AND it can benifit the Rogue as well.

+ Skinning

This is a very good money making Profession, mixed with Mining, you'll be the god of making money when it comes to Professions, Leatherworking is good for lvls 5 - 40, but at higher lvls it becomes a pain and becomes useless to a Rogue. Skinning is good for Farming w/ Mining.
