Introduction

Well, i have looked through the whole site with guides and such and i have not really found any good gold making guide for the lower levels ( level 1-59 ), so i decided i could just aswell write my own guide to help people.

First i would like to introduce myself,
Im a player from Sweden and i've got experience that reaches about 1.5 year back. I also have a good amount of capped level 60 chars in different classes so i think i got enough experience to write a guide like this.

The Guide

The ways of moneymaking

PART ONE: THE PROFESSIONS

There are countless of ways to earn money in World of Warcraft, it is not even worth to list all the ways here because it would take too much space. Also, you probably just want to know about the very best ways of gold making and not some mediocre way.

1
There is always the profession. Professions can be the most profitable way to earn money, that is if you pick the right profession for YOUR way of playing World of Warcraft. But at the very beginning the best professions to start with are:

Skinning, combined with either Mining or Herbalism

Q;Why not Mining and Herbalism?
A;Because of the simple fact that both Mining and Herbalism needs a reagent-tracker to be active for you to see the spot to farm these on the minimap. Skinning doesen't need this.

These are the core gold makers for the player between level 1-59. By selecting two of these you are most likley assured to get 100% more gold than you need for your mount at level 40 for instance ( When i was level 40 with my priest recently i had about 230 gold ). It is not hard to level up these professions either, you just have to keep grinding the mobs and stop every now and then to pick up a herb or mine a vein.

I know most of you will think 'Hey, thats not right… Enchanting is so much better for moneymaking'. That may very well be, but the problem with professions like Enchanting are that they:
1. Slow down your grind in a way that you need to keep buying enchanting tools
2. They are not very profitable unless you get to 300, and this needs some dedication.
3. Much harder to learn the tricks about. (Skinning = Kill mob,Skin,Repeat)

So you now have decided to choose a profession?
Then its time to give some guidelines for them…

MINING

Mining IS a cool profession (atleast i think so), and i usually pick mining infront of herbalism and usually mining pays a little more than herbalism in the long run.
The rules are simple, you grind and while grinding you keep an eye on the minimap for the veins. Remember that usually you can just sell the copper, tin and sometimes even iron to vendors. Because the cost mining them, running to AH, compete with others is just not worth it. So vendor this UNLESS there is a very big demand for it on AH.
When you reach Mithril level you want to start putting it up on AH, remember to always sell in bars and when i sell i usually sell in a specific system :
1. I put up 5 single bars on AH , by this i mean that i set up 5 auctions for 5 BARS and not stacks for the simple reason that sometimes people just need 1 bar and will buy it even if you overprice it instead of having to buy a 20 bar stack.
2. I only put up 3 stacks AT MOST, to keep the listing cost down. Put the rest of the bars in your bank. Remember that if you got too much mithril bars and noone buys, either lower your price a little or sell it to vendor, no need to cry about this.
For the thorium bars i use the same strategy of putting 5 single bars and 3 stacks on AH. But instead i never sell these bars. If you really don't have space for them, make a bankcharacter and put the bars there.
Don't make Steel bars unless you get an order from someone to make them, these are not very profitable to sell and if you do make them… make just 1 stack at maximum.
For gold and truesilver, ONLY sell these in single bars on AH. Most people dont need a stack of truesilver on their throat and probably will be screaming WTS 1 bar instead of buying your stack. So always sell in single bars here. Same method goes for Gold.

SKINNING

Skinning is easy and does not really speed down your leveling time since you need some resst after a combat and might aswell do this skinning.
Skinning is also very simple, you just try to kill more beasts than Humanoids, Undead etc.etc. so that every time that enemy mob goes down, you can skin it.

Q; If i dont kill Humanoids i dont get any cloth for my FA!
A; 1st. Unless you are a Warlock doing instances you don't really need FA untill level 60 and at that level you can fast cap it anyways.
2nd, if you REALLY REALLY need FA, no problem. It is okay to kill some humanoids but remember to kill enough beasts later on to get your skinning skill capped.

The basic leathers that you get from levels 1-30 about is just vendor trash, no need to spend downtime going to AH. Later on when you get to the more expensive leathers, keep the amount of stacks in AH at about 4-5 and not more to make sure you dont have to pay too much keeping them there.

HERBALISM

Herbalism is good to choose if you want an income that keeps up with your expenses without you having to be all too dedicated. As the other professions, this one is just as simple.
Always remember to have your herbalism tracker on and to keep a look at it. It will eventually pop up an herb nearby and it IS okay to grind trough the mobs to get to it. Most people see this as too much work for a single herb, instead you should see it as extra exp.
For the selling part you can follow this simple system to keep AH costs as low as possible:
Put up 2-3 single herbs and 2-3 stacks of 5! yes… by 5 i mean stacks of 5 herbs.
So by setting up small stacks and single herbs you give the alchemist an oppirtunity to get more freedom to buy what herb he wants without having to buy a stack , this results in an increased profit for YOU.

If you want to pull up some quick information about your World of Warcraft character (or anyone else's for that matter), why don't you try browsing for it on your iPhone. I'm not talking about the WoW Armory. There's a quicker way for you to do that - on the new and updated version of the Warcraft Characters app for the iPhone.

Released last July on the App Store, the WoW-friendly application now features some interesting and useful additions. Aside from compatibility with Apple's firmware 2.0, the app now allows you to view a character's gear, as well as his or her's reputation status.

In addition, non-US players can now make use of the app since it provides extended compatibility for characters from all other realms, such as those from China, Korea and Taiwan. The only thing missing seems to be the talents list for each character viewed. Otherwise, as a portable Armory, this app definitely does the job quite well.

Warcraft Characters is available on the App Store for free, so go ahead and download a copy. We'll be sure to keep tabs on any further updates regarding this nifty app as soon as we get them.

I can't express just how awesome it is, so why don't you see for yourselves? Watch the video below.

Aside from the movie, Blizzard will also host a Q&A portion, playable demos, and a forum at the convention. We'll be sure to let you know if anything new comes out of the event. Enough dilly-dally though, here's the movie, enjoy!

Step one: Ask a friend who'll not be needing to enter a party for a while to help you, make him send an invite to your main character. (...)

Step one: Ask a friend who'll not be needing to enter a party for a while to help you, make him send an invite to your main character.

Step two: Press alt+f4 to effectively disconnect your main but not kick him out of the party, now log onto your alt and ask a friend to invite your alt into the party with your disconnected main.

Step three: Bring your alt and main to the instance of your choosing using the alt+f4 technique.

Step four: Make your main kill all the mobs that can potentially agro your alt while trying to get him to the boss.

Step five: Now that you've cleared all the mobs with your main, alt+f4 and log onto your alt, make him run straight to the boss.

Step six: Alt+f4 again, log onto your main, and fight the boss…bring him down to about 5-10%, make sure you don't have your pet attack on by then, or dots, etc.

Step seven: Alt+f4 and log on your alt all while the boss is attacking your main, when you log in onto your alt, you will literally see the boss still attacking your main.

Step eight: Make your alt kill the already weakened boss, gather loot, and /dance

Blizzard has already confirmed their presence at the Leipzig Games Convention, but Kotaku recently found out an extra bit of information pertaining to Blizzard's presence at GC. Specifically, Blizzard will be showing off some new media for convention-goers to drool over.

According to Kotaku's report, Blizzard is planning on unveiling the opening cinematic movie for Wrath of the Lich King at the event.

Playable demos, an opening cinematic, and a forum for questions. Sounds like the Blizzard media machine is going full force at Leipzig. Keep checking QJ for updates from Leipzig as it happens.

I posted this as a reply elsewhere, but thought more people wouldm ake use of it here. So here it is:

When when you're grinding you want to head up the retribution tree, to max out your dps. So you wanna head for SoC, then up vindication eye for an eye, etc etc. However the retribution build is next to useless end game (in my opinion), As it does not help the paladin in it's princible ability (survivability). Anyway below is the first template, for grinding to 60 - and then below it there is an end game build.

Grinding build:

Retribution:

10-11-12-13-14: Improved Blessing of Might Rank 5/5 (This is your first step toward greater dps).
15-16-17-18-19: Benediction Rank 5/5 (Whilst not useful at these levels it brings you closer to the grinding essential Seal of Command.)
20: Seal of Command Rank 1/1 (/cheer).
26-27-28-29-30: Conviction Rank 5/5 (More crits = more dps).
31-32-33: Vindication Rank 3/3 (Potentially reducing the ammount of damage you take, thus decreasing downtime)
34-35: Eye for an Eye, Rank 2/2 OR Pursuit of Justice Rank 2/2 (Neither are that useful but are good point fillers).
36-37-38: 2 Handed Weapon Specialisation Rank 3/3 (Again allows for higher damage, great crit chance, etc).
39: Santicity Aura, (Bit more dps).
40-41-42-43-44: Vengeance Rank 5/5 (Again dps increase).
45: Repentance Rank 1/1 (Not that useful for grinding, but cant hurt if you need an emergency heal).

Protection:

46-47-48-49-50: Improved Devotion Aura Rank 5/5 (Less damage taken = less down time).
51-52-53-54-55: Toughness Rank 5/5 (See above)

Holy:

21-22-23-24-25: Divine Strength Rank 5/5 (This adds to your attack power, thus increasing dps).
56-57-58-59-60: Useful for healing when taking a beating.

When you hit 60 immediately respec if you want to be vaguely respectable in pve. Paladin is about survivability, and support healing (and primarily cleansing). Retribution helps you with none of these. The following 2 are 2 reasonable templates for end game raiding.

Template 1:

Holy Talents - 31 points

Divine Intellect - rank 5/5
Spiritual Focus - rank 5/5
Healing Light - rank 3/3
Unyielding Faith - rank 2/2
Illumination - rank 5/5
Improved Blessing of Wisdom - rank 2/2
Divine Favor - rank 1/1
Lasting Judgement - rank 3/3
Holy Power - rank 5/5

Protection Talents - 9 points

Improved Devotion Aura - rank 5/5
Toughness - rank 4/5

Retribution Talents - 11 points

Benediction - rank 5/5
Deflection - rank 5/5
Seal of Command - rank 1/1

Template 2:

Holy Talents - 15 points

Divine Intellect - rank 5/5
Spiritual Focus - rank 5/5
Healing Light - rank 3/3
Unyielding Faith - rank 2/2

Protection Talents - 25 points

I recently lost an account because Blizzard mistakenly thought I was running a bot program when, in fact, I was playing in a scaled VNC window at 2 frames/sec. They wouldn't listen and didn't care, so I went and started a new account to try to regain my level 60 priest.

First time around it took about 5 months to get to 60 in casual playing. This time it took about 3 weeks of intensive leveling and I thought I would post what I did for others:

1. Do as many red quests as you possibly can. Don't worry about the difficulty. Red quests done quickly give the best XP (sometimes 6000 or more).
2. Have a guildy or two help you blow through those red quests. The key here is fast.
3. Find areas that you can "grind" XP. This is the worst part. It is crucial that you do this alone, not in groups. No matter what anyone says, grinding alone gets you much more XP than any other method. I did this by turning off all sound in the game, throwing a good DVD or recorded TV show up on my second monitor and just runing around in about the same area killing as much and as fast as possible. Try to find that point at which you can continuously kill stuff without having to break for mana drinks or health regens.

I know this sounds boring, and it really is. I've read a lot of "1-60 in 2 days" posts that are simply false. I think this is the only real way of being able to get to 60 in any reasonable time. By the way, time played for my character when I hit 60 was about 12 game-days total.

From 50-60 my average xp/hr was about 22k and I did 1-2 levels a day easily.

I hope this helps!
