Fishing +Cooking 1-300 (Wow)

it will take you a minimum of 11 hours to complete this, but more likely about 14-15.

So let's start:

Go to your fishing trainer and cook and pick up Fishing and Cooking skills.
Buy a fishing rod and a stack of shiny baubles (a lure that adds +25 to your fishing skill).
Your now ready to begin.

Horde

Best place to start is in Bloodhoof Village in Mulgore.
Go speak to Harn Longcast and buy Brilliant Smallfish and Longjaw Mud Snapper recipes off of him. Now start fishing in Stonebull Lake.
Equip your rod and then apply the shiny bauble lure to it, as this will make catching fish easier. You'll want to catch about 60 Brilliant Smallfish and this should take about 40 minutes. You'll find that by the time you have caught 60 Brilliant Smallfish, you'll also have about 30 Longjaw Mud Snappers. Once you have 60, cook them. You can either build your own fire or jog back to Harn Longcast and use the fire in front of him. Cook the Brilliant Smallfish, then at level 50 start cooking Longjaw Mud Snappers (after learning the recipe you bought earlier).
You'll need to go and catch Longjaw Mud Snappers now and the best place for these is the pond in Orgrimmar by Lumark the Fishing trainer (I know you've been catching quite a few where you are, but the 'drop rate' is a lot better in Orgrimmar).
Between levels 50 and 75 go learn journeyman fishing and cooking.
You'll now need to catch about 30 Longjaw Mud Snappers to get your cooking up to 100.
Now go to Tarren Mill in Hillsbrad and buy Bristle Whisker Catfish recipe off of Derak Nightfall.
Go to the river to the East of Tarren Mill and fish for Bristle Whisker Catfish. Depending on your cooking level, your going to need about 80-100 of these to get it up to 175.
Between levels 125 and 150 go learn expert cooking from trainer. You'll need to go to Booty Bay and buy a book for your Fishing level. Speak to Old Man Heming and buy the book Expert Fishing: The Bass and You.
Once your up to 175 cooking, go to Shadowprey Village in Desolace. Speak to Wulan and buy Mithril Head Trout recipe and start fishing on the pier there. Your going to need about 60 of these to get your cooking up to level 225.

At this point you should now have level 225 fishing and level 225 cooking. If your not level 35 yet, then this is as far as you can go. If you are level 35+ then you have two quests to complete before you can continue.

First quest: Cooking
Requirements: Level 35, 225 Cooking.

Go to Gadgetzan in Tanaris and speak to Dirge Quikcleave. He is in the tavern. He'll want you to bring him 12 Giant Eggs, 10 Zesty Clam Meat and 20 Alterac Swiss. You should actually be able to buy the eggs and clam meat off of AH, but in case you can't here's where to find them. Now according to the quest Giant Eggs drop off of Rocs in Tanaris or any large bird. The best place I found for the eggs, was the owlbeast in The Hinterlands. Only needed to kill about 20 of these to get my 12 eggs. They are about level 43 ish, so if your not that high a level, get help or wait till you can handle them. The clam meat comes from clams, naturally! Well to save you swimming around the sea looking for clams, your better off killing turtles at Steamwheedle Port or Raventusk Village. The drop rate is quite high and you'll have your clam meat in no time. The levels are 41 ish for Steamwheedle Port and 49-50 for Raventusk Village. The Alterac Swiss is the easiest part. Go to Hammerfall in Arathi Highlands and buy them off of the Inn Keeper. Hand them all in and you'll get your Artisan Cooking.

Second Quest: Fishing
Requirements: Level 35, 225 Fishing.

You need to go and find Nat Pagle in Dustwallow Marsh. He is standing on a small island to the West of Theramore (58,60). He'll ask you to catch four rare fishes for him. This quest is actually really easy and the only hard part is the amount of travelling involved. The fish you need to catch are:

Feralas Ahi - If you ride out West from Camp Mojache and fish the Verdantis River where the small bridge is by the Ogres, you'll soon catch one.

Sar'theris Striker - Ride a little South out of Shadowprey Village and your there. Make sure the area comes up as Sar'theris Strand.

Savage Coast Blue Saffin - Just outside Grom'gol Base Camp. Make sure the area comes up as Savage Coast.

Misty Reed Mahi Mahi - Directly East from Stonnard. Just avoid the Murlocs.

You should catch these fish within 5 to 10 casts at each location. So it wont take long. The best order I've found to do this quest in is; (assuming you don't already have all the flightpaths) From Dustwallow, ride to the Great Lift and then head West through Thousand Needles to Camp Mojache in Feralas - From Feralas, ride North West into Desolace and onto Shadowprey Village - From Desolace, fly to Thunderbluff - Fly to XR - Fly to Orgrimmar - Get Zeppelin to Grom'Gol Base Camp - Ride North to Duskwood - Ride East to Deadwind Pass - Ride through Deadwind Pass to Swamp of Sorrows.
Now go back to Nat and get your Artisan Fishing.

Ok, so your now at level 225 in both cooking and fishing and you've done your Artisan quests. Time for the home stretch.

Go to Steamwheedle port and speak to Gikkix, You'll want to buy the following two recipes: Spotted Yellowtail and Poached Sunscale Salmon.
Now go to Raventusk Village in the Hinterlands and fish for Spotted Yellowtails. You'll need about 30 to get your cooking from 225 to 250.
Now go to Bloodvenom Falls in Felwood and fish for Sunscale Salmon. You'll need about 30 to get your cooking from 250 to 275.
Now go to Camp Mojache in Feralas and speak to Sheendra Tallgrass and buy the recipe for Mightfish Steak. Whilst your there buy about 40 Hot Spices and 40 Soothing Spices as your going to be making the food that you will want as a level 60 (without going into instances that is). It gives a +10 stamina buff for 15mins which is always helpful.
Now go to Scalebeard's Cave in Azshara (its one of the islands to the East) and fish for Mightfish. You'll need about 30 to get your cooking from 275 to 300. You may need to bring some lures with you at this point, as your cooking will level up faster than your fishing and Azshara is a 250+ fishing zone. Once your cooking is a 300, keep fishing till you've maxed out that too. It will take 7 to 10 catches to get one skill up at this point, so take your time.

Alliance

Best place to start is in Elwynn Forest.
Go speak to Nyoma by Crystal Lake and buy the recipes for Brilliant Smallfish and Longjaw Mud Snappers. Now start fishing in Crystal Lake.
You'll want to catch about 60 Brilliant Smallfish to get your cooking from 1 to 50.
Now go to Stormwind City and fish the canals for Longjaw Mud Snappers. You'll need about 50 of them to raise your cooking to 100.
Between levels 50 and 75 go learn journeyman fishing and cooking.
Now go to Southshore and speak to Donald Rabonne and buy the recipes for Bristle Whisker Catfish and Mithril Head Trout.
Go to the river to the east of Southshore and fish for Bristle Whisker Catfish. You'll need about 80-100 of these to get your cooking to level 175.
Between levels 125 and 150 go learn expert cooking from trainer. You'll need to go to Booty Bay and buy a book for your Fishing level. Speak to Old Man Heming and buy the book Expert Fishing: The Bass and You.
Now go to the Lakes outside Stromgarde Keep in Arathi Highlands and fish for Mithril Head Trout.

Requirements: Level 35, 225 Fishing.

Misty Reed Mahi Mahi - Directly East from Stonnard. Just avoid the Murlocs.

You should catch these fish within 5 to 10 casts at each location. So it wont take long. I haven't done this quest on my Alliance character, so I'm not sure of the best order in which to do them.
Now go back to Nat and get your Artisan Fishing.

Go to Steamwheedle port and speak to Gikkix, You'll want to buy the following two recipes: Spotted Yellowtail and Poached Sunscale Salmon.
Either fish for Spotted Yellowtails at Steamwheedle Port or go to Raventusk Village (well not to it, just a little North of it) for the slightly better drop rate. You'll need about 30 to get your cooking from 225 to 250.
Now go to Bloodvenom Falls in Felwood and fish for Sunscale Salmon. You'll need about 30 to get your cooking from 250 to 275.
No go and speak to Vivianna in The Feathermoon Stronghold and buy the recipe for Mightfish Steak. Whilst your there buy about 40 Hot Spices and 40 Soothing Spices as your going to be making the food that you will want as a level 60 (without going into instances that is). website experienced a lot of downtimes due to the sheer number of people trying to get tickets to BlizzCon 2008, Blizzard president Mike Morhaime has stepped in to announce that the company will be selling another 3,000 tickets.

Great news, but apparently it's still going to be a bit of a hit or miss affair. Due to the demand, the 3,000 tickets will be sold off via lottery. Only those who have an active Blizzard account as of 9:00 PM PDT on August 12 will have a chance of getting the tickets.

Still, it's better than missing out on the event, especially if you're a hardcore fan of Blizzard's stable of hit franchises. Keep checking back here for more BlizzCon 2008 updates.

Be A Better Duelist - Rogue (World of warcraft)

Here are some tips to duel, or 1v1 pvp better:

1. Waiting for the right moment - If you have the 2 points in Imp. Sap this tip will work even better than without, say you are dueling a priest or mage, they have their shield up. Chain sap them till the shield wears off, then continue with the battle. Yes, it might be a boring 45 seconds or whatever but, if you can do 2 sinister strikes while the shield is down as a sword combat rogue I can get a extra 1000 damage from back to back sinister strikes. If you don't have 2 points in Imp. Sap then, wait for the shield to go down then try to cheap shot asap.

2. Using terrain - This has saved me so many times. When dueling a prot. specc warriorm or, any warrior when I open with my cheapshot, sinister strike, sinister strike, and then rupture I make my way to a small building or something that you can jump over, such as the giant spikes infront of org, and then kite the warrior till im out of combat, then restealth. If you are vs. a warrior watch his stances. If he is in zerker, you might want to stay between 5yds (Min attack range) and 8yds (Min charge range). This will take some practice but, it can work very well. Yes, it does make a very lame pitiful fight but, it gets the job done well!

3. Kick! - This is awsome to begin with but, if you are specced into Imp. Kick it is about 5 times better. If you are dueling a shadow priest, and you kick it with Imp. Kick it can't cast for 2 seconds leaving you the window to do whatever you want. If you are dueling against a good priest they will unshift and heal but, not all of them do that. If you are lucky one will and you can get a 5 point KS off and own if without the shadow damage reduction for 6 seconds! Don't waste kick thought. If a warlock is casting a dot, save it for a shadowbolt or something that can really do some damage.

These are a few things that a lot of people forget. Im sure you have something better than this or think this isn't good, and thats fine.

Leveling in Wrath of the Lich King now needs twice as much experience (Wow)

will be offering is going to be a breeze, then think again. An article written on WoW Insider indicated that leveling now needs nearly twice as much experience (around 80 to be exact) compared to before.

While it is expected that leveling is a lot harder at this point, the steep slope the new leveling curve introduces can be quite daunting for even veteran World of Warcraft players. It is still a point of contention whether Blizzard will adjust this curve in the future or simply introduce other game balancing methods to draw out the grind.

The expansion does introduce two new starting points for players to suitably level their characters for the area. However, having players clear through them just to level up kind of defeats the whole purpose of creating them in the first place.

We'll be sure to keep an eye on any new updates regarding this matter as soon as we get them. In the meantime, check out our other WotLK articles through the links we've provided below.

WoW update: Cheeky's Hunter Spreadsheet gets revived (World of warcraft)

Serious hunters in World of Warcraft have probably heard of Cheeky, Lactose, and the amazing Hunter spreadsheet developed to help hunters in itemization and analysis of their existing DPS. Suffice it to say that around a week ago, Cheeky and Lactose retired from World of Warcraft, leaving their Hunter spreadsheet open for people to pick up, use, and possibly continue.

Well, it seems that one intrepid hunter has taken up the cause of informative spreadsheets! The Hunting Lodge reports that Wertez has decided to pursue further development of the spreadsheet for the hunter-playing public.

It also appears as if a new version is also up for people to download, though the title of the file still remains version 1. That said, we invite folks to check out the latest version of the Hunter Spreadsheet and compare it to the one they have to see if anything has changed.

Tradeskilling the smart way (World of warcraft)

By the time I hit 30 on my first character I had really started to enjoy the tradeskills in World of Warcraft. It was obvious though, that each tradeskill took a considerably amount of resources to gain access to higher level recipes. The big kicker though, is it didn t require a lot of time, which is where this guide comes in.

In World of Warcraft most tradeskills require two professions, one creates items, and the other is used to gather resources for the creation of those items. So lets list out the tradeskills that are used to gather resources for their complementary tradeskills:

Herbalism (for Alchemy)
Skinning (for Leathercrafting)
Mining (for Blacksmithing & Engineering)

The only two we ve left out is Tailoring and Enchanting which do not need complementary skills, they work off drop rates and item collection. Looking at these, I came up with a plan of attack that will allow me to level all of the tradeskills at the same time and very quickly to boot.

Our strategy revolves around selecting two resource-gathering tradeskills for each of your characters you play with. As those characters progress through the game collecting resources with their tradeskills, they send the resources to the appropriate mule. At the appropriate level, each toon will untrain one of their professions and train the trade skill that their gathering skill complements. This will allow extremely rapid development of trade skilling from the resources you ve collected throughout all of your characters.

Which Gathering Tradeskills to Train

While you can choose between herbalism and skinning, you must have mining. The reason you have to choose mining is because you ll need to supply two different characters with resources and with mining, it s a pain already to get resources for mining, so you may as well make it easier on yourself and get as much of it as you possibly can on each character. Then choosing between skinning and herbalism depends on your preference. For less stress I d say skinning because you don t have to keep choosing between find minerals and find herbs as you go through your leveling process. You ll want to have all your bases covered though, so make sure you have at least 1 or 2 characters gathering herbs.

Now that you ve planned your tradeskill selection you ll need to create the characters you ll be playing and start gathering resources.

When to Untrain your Tradeskill

It all depends on your patience and your pack space. Around level 25/30 you ll start seeing problems with pack space on your mules and it may be a good indicator that you should untrain. Optimally, you shouldn t untrain until level 60. Though I don t have that kind of patience myself, but I wouldn t respect until a minimal level 20 on my toons.

The reason why you want to keep your two gathering skills as long as possible before untraining is simple, you want to gather as many resources as you possibly can before starting the complementary tradeskill. I can t tell you how easy it is to level blacksmithing once you ve obtained 500 copper ore and 300 tin ore. That s 150 smithing in an hour. Not only that, but you didn t waste any of your time gathering resources, since your alts did it while you leveled them. You didn t have to grind for ore, or hang around a mountain to farm it just to level your smithing up a few more points. You simply gathered it when it was convenient to your progression through the game. It s all based on efficiency and the value of your time.

What Tradeskills are Important?

I m not going to get into the debate about which tradeskills are more useful, that is beyond the scope of this guide. However, I will tell you which tradeskills make this system work smoother, then you ll be able to gauge what your next step will be.

Tailoring: Tailoring is probably the most useful (and the most efficient to level) out of our tradeskill selection. The reason why it is so efficient to level is that every one of your characters can gather resources for this profession without a gathering skill. Not only that, but finding cloth is so common that people don t have a problem parting with it for nothing. Around 150 Tailoring skill you ll be able to create 10 slot bags, which should be dispatched to all of your mules who are missing bags. Oh and Alliance tailors have the Journeyman, Expert and Artisans located in Stormwind.

Enchanting: I like Enchanting because it brings it all together. Enchanting makes sure that there will be no wasted items once you start grinding points on your other tradeskills. Any items you produce through your tradeskills will go directly to your Enchanter for disenchanting. Likewise, any items you may find along your journey that don t sell at the Auction House should go to your Enchanter for disenchanting. While leveling multiple tradeskills at a time, you should be producing a great deal of green items which will all get recycled to boost your Enchanting skill.

Blacksmithing: For the purpose of this guide, think of Blacksmithing as a way to unload pack space, because that ore really fills your inventory/bank up quickly. You ll always end up untraining to Blacksmithing first just to alleviate all the pack space you re gonna fill up with the ore you ll collect from mining. I even went as far as making a second mule dedicated to smith stuff just to prolong my training of blacksmithing, but alas, it too filled up quickly. As you level up through the tiers of armor you ll quickly pass your own level requirement, which means you ll always have armor waiting when you level.

Alchemy: Alchemy will supply your characters with quest items and health/mana potions as they progress through the game. Since Herbs don t take up a great deal of pack space I usually just wait off when it comes to training Alchemy.

Leathercrafting: Leathercrafting is another major pack space unloader. Seeing as though leathers only stack up to 10, and hides up to 5 (most of the time) it becomes rather pack space intensive after about 25 levels. Like Blacksmithing, Leathercrafters can also benefit your alts by giving out armor when it is useful.

Engineering: Though I d pickup Smithing long before engineering, it is a great pack space unloader as well as quest item supplier for certain quests (darkshire, badlands).

So Why Do All This?

Eliminate dependency, prepare for the updates and to help bridge the higher level tradeskills. If you have 250+ on all of the trade skills in the game, you are a one man green/blue item manufacturer. You will have an ease of item creation that no other player in the game can match. You see, when you hit the 250+ recipes a great deal of the recipes require resources from other professions. High level bag creation requires leathers from skinning, high level leathercrafting requires a Salt Shaker made by Engineers, Blacksmiths require Arcanite that is purified by an Alchemist. By eliminating the middle man you eliminate dependency on other people as well as a quicker means of obtaining the resources you need.

Preparing for updates is just always a good rule of thumb in an mmorpg. Eventually they ll add hero levels and new 300+ recipes that will allow you to obtain higher level items. You can bet that these new additions will have a lot of requirements from other trade skills but given Blizzard s flare for non-cookie cutter gameplay, it may be hard to pinpoint exactly what will come. If you want to experience those new recipes and items first, I suggest you get your tradeskilling up to par and keep your ear to the ground as new updates arrive.

>>Though I am a big fan of tradeskills, not everyone may share this flare. However, a lot of players enjoy creating alternate characters and leveling them up to 30 and starting over again. You might as well play it efficiently and quickly gain resources and tradeskilling points by refining your tradeskills and untraining at a later time. Remember, you only have to be level 35 to get to 300 points on any tradeskill. Though the 225-300 range may require you to kill level 50+ mobs, you can still achieve 300 through alternate means. Just gather those resources and when you re ready to focus on your gameplay on a single character or many alternates, you ll be amazed at how much smoother the game gets when you have the best armor every level from tradeskilling.

BlizzCon 2008 tickets sold out (World of warcraft)

, you'd best find an alternative means of entering the convention hall. Blizzard has officially stated that there are no more tickets to be had for the event. Zip. Nada. Zilch.

Here's the official announcement over on the World of Warcraft forums:

Tickets to BlizzCon 2008 are now sold out. We d like to thank everyone once again for their overwhelming interest in this year s show. If you were unable to secure tickets, please keep in mind that DIRECTV will be broadcasting BlizzCon live from the Anaheim Convention Center on October 10 and 11.

The process for acquiring tickets was more or less a hit or miss affair, with the site going down multiple times during the event. As you can probably guess, many are a bit agitated at not being able to acquire tickets, and have gone on to the official forums to voice out their complaints and concerns.

If you were one of those people trying to get tickets but weren't able to, you may want to head on over to the official forums to voice out your disappointment as well. In the meantime, expect us to give you more updates on BlizzCon 2008 as they happen.

World of Warcraft site update: Northrend region guide
Northrend is going to be a very forbidding territory when it arrives, given that it's been built for those level 70 and above. Stumbling into the wrong region isn't just going to eat up time - it could very well mean getting killed.

With that in mind, Blizzard has recently updated their official World of Warcraft site's Guide section with the respective region levels for each of Northrend's areas. Here is a screenshot of the new list:

World of Warcraft site update: Northrend region guide - Image 1

Blizzard's site also offers links to a thorough description of each of the Northrend regions, though they're only up to Grizzly Hills for the moment. Those interested in reading further regarding Wrath of the Lich King's regions will want to visit Blizzard's site via the source link below, though you'll want to check back in case we run into any further updates.

[2] Rogues Loot List

It embarrasing enough when a Rogues tries to roll on Druid pieces when he/she doesn't know its a druid only item and rolls on it based on stats, so heres a nice loot list by a friend of mine :

Heres another loot list I found on Google :

How to use this build: ^ the one above

First is to always open up with a cheap shot or ambush ( I use ambush ) then start pounding away with SS then when at 3 - 5 Pts ( Depends on your HP and Targets HP ) use Evi, then repeat. If you reach 50% HP its best you use Vanish then Cheap Shot, then SS till target has max Pts on him/her then if Evi isnt rdy by now use Prep then Cold Blood to hopefully finish the target. Using this build requires the true rogue or a sneeking player if your non of tht by all means don't use this build lol, you'll just get Murdered like a Decked out Rogue vs the Holy Priest.

How to use this build: ^ the one above

Do NOT use SS, because it is a waste of energy in this build, use Hemorrhage to open up atks, its required hat you use either Rupture or Evi, the battle conditions will tell you wat to do, if you open up with Garrote its best you use Evi when at 3-5 Pts on the Enemy, but if you use Cheap Shot ( NO Ambush ) its best you use Rupture then start hacking/slashing away with Hemorr and Evi. Also in this build since you do less Instant/Burst Dmg its best you use Swords, no Maces because since the patch up Blizzard has reduced the ammount of Dmg Maces do with Rogues. Using Swords with Strength and Agilty are the key ( No Stamina, your gear can do that ) because you want to hit hard while doing DoT.

[6] Professions

+ Mining

This is a grreat money maker for a Rogue and I highly recommend it at low lvls so you can save up for a mount, if you do this for farming mats its best you pair it w/ Skinning, Blacksmithing is practicly useless with Rogues because Rogues don't use Mail or Plate, and the weapons that are made arn't benifical for a Rogue.

+ Herbalism

A good partner with Alchemy, though not much of a money maker by itself w/ Alchemy its a money maker AND it can benifit the Rogue as well.

+ Skinning

This is a very good money making Profession, mixed with Mining, you'll be the god of making money when it comes to Professions, Leatherworking is good for lvls 5 - 40, but at higher lvls it becomes a pain and becomes useless to a Rogue. Skinning is good for Farming w/ Mining.
